movin' along

I'm officially a traveler for work. I rarely stay in the same state for more than a few days. This makes developing film a pain in the ass.

I've also started shooting slide film, which takes longer to develop and is more expensive.

The good news is I've bought a bunch of new (old) lenses for my F2A, so now I use exclusively Nikkor glass. My arsenal now includes:

28mm f/2.8
35-70mm f/3.5
55mm f/3.5 macro
80-200mm f/4

I've retired my 43-86mm Nikkor and my 75-250mm Tamron. If anyone is interested in buying either of these, let me know.

My next lens purchase will be an ultrawide, at least a 20mm. I've got my eyes on the Nikkor 20mm f/4. But I think I need to start getting some faster lenses because slide film is slower than print film. :/

I often feel a little odd taking credit for a photograph. So much went into creating the image that has very little to do with me. Most of the time, I have no real control of the light--only tricks to make it look "good". The subject is what it is. And I'm using a piece of equipment that dozens, if not hundreds of people spent a long time designing and crafting, and that I would have no hope of reconstructing myself. Even the inspiration to photograph something, what could most easily be called "my" contribution to the image, comes out of a thought process beyond the rational or creative. It seems to pop out of thin air. So I'll be content to hope that a little bit of how I feel about my subjects makes it into the final image. The rest, I'd say, is beyond my credit.
